The JPS Foundation
The JPS Foundation was established in 2012 and plays a key role in facilitating our contribution to nation-building. Behind the brand, is a team of Jamaicans passionate about positively impacting lives and making their contribution to nation-building.
OUR PROJECTS
CSEC Electrical and Electronic Technology Exam Fee Sponsorship
JPS Foundation launched the CSEC Electrical and Electronic Technology Exam Fee Sponsorship programme in 2016. This programme allows qualifying high school students to sit the exam at no cost to them and creates the opportunity to have a certified skill. CSEC is the main standard national assessment that helps students qualify for acceptance into local universities and colleges. A minimum of five CSEC passes is required to matriculate.
Energy is an integral part of Jamaica’s plan for national development, and the creation of a skilled workforce is key to nation-building. This is the reason that JPS Foundation funded the CSEC exam fees associated with the Electrical and Electronic Technology course for qualifying students, ongoing since the 2016/2017 academic year. This is in support of the Ministry of Education’s objective of making a skills-based course mandatory for all high school students.
JPS Foundation Energy Clubs
The JPS Foundation Energy Clubs programme was launched November 2014 by the JPS Foundation, as part of its focus on energy education and innovation. The programme also aims to assist the participating schools to manage their energy consumption. The Foundation’s service oriented Energy Clubs enables students to build their capacities to be responsible and informed energy consumers, and possible future experts in the sector.
Energy Clubs help students better understand issues in energy and inspire innovation and creativity in the fields of energy, science and technology. There is additional focus on environmental awareness, management through innovation, technology, science-based methods and personal development.
